Introduction
Microbiology has always been a field of great importance in our lives. The importance of microorganisms in causing disease and in cycling nutrients in the environment ties the study of Microbiology closely to both medicine and agriculture. Microbiology stresses on experimental rather that descriptive approach to research. Opportunity for microbiology graduates are enormous in areas such as research and development, applied microbiology and education.
KCST is offering B. Sc. and M. Sc. Microbiology. We are committed to develop abilities and skills in students that are relevant to the study and practice of Microbiology and develop linkages with national and international organizations for collaborative works in research as well as human resource development.
It believes in not only imparting a high level of Education but also creating a competitive as well as friendly environment in the college.
Objectives
The main vision of our organization is to develop highly skilled manpower, faculties and advisory services in the field of microbiology;
To fulfill the needs of national and international agencies on matters of microbiology and, in turn, to contribute in the overall development of microbiology in Nepal.
The objectives of the Faculty of Microbiology are consistent with the objectives of Tribhuvan University in developing and maintaining excellence in the quality of its academic standards and of research, establishing programs to meet the expanding needs of the country and of providing the means to reach out to all the people.

Admission Criteria
B. Sc Microbiology
An applicant must have completed a twelve-year schooling or equivalent from any University, Board or Institution recognized by TU.He/ She should have a minimum of 50 percent in 10+2 or equivalent.
He/ She must appear and pass the Entrance Examination conducted by the Department of microbiology at the college. It includes areas like Verbal ability, Quantitative ability, Logical reasoning, and general awareness.
M. Sc Microbiology
An applicant must have a B. Sc. degree with Microbiology from TU or equivalent.
He/ She must appear and pass the Entrance Examination of two hours conducted by the Central Department of microbiology at TU.
A merit list of the qualified applicants is prepared on the basis of the percentage in the final examination at the basic level and the marks obtained in the respective entrance examinations.
Only short-listed candidates from the written test will be selected for interview.
